I Know Someone with the Same Cancer as Me but They are Doing Better/Worse
The cancer treatment journey is different for everyone. Some are short, some long. Some people need only surgery. Others need surgery, chemo and radiation. Some are not candidates for surgery. There are people who experience a lot of complications. And others who appear to sail through.
It is important not to compare yourself to others even with the same cancer. Each seemingly exact same cancer can behave differently in different people. Do not feel hopeless if someone is not doing well and remember that your doctor is treating you as an individual. If you are worried, talk to your doctor about your worries. Many people would benefit from therapy during cancer treatment. It helps to voice your fears and your joys to a third party. It is much easier than baring your soul to a loved one who may have their own fear of loss or helplessness about your illness.
